The hashtag #BoycottGoya began circulating soon after user Igor Volsky admonished users to remember Unanue’s statements when making their shopping decisions:

Goya is the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the United States, and its products, including over fifty kosher products, form a staple of many Latino American households’ diets – the privately-held company was valued at up to $3 billion as recently as last year. It remains to be seen if the social media uproar will impact Goya’s bottom line, but some users are making no delay in making their sentiments heard.
