Editor’s Note

To our readership at TribeHerald:

The measure of journalistic integrity is often not insisting that the story a publication produces is flawless, but making space to consider or admit that some information, even despite due diligence, did not paint an accurate picture. This is one of those times for TribeHerald.

In November, we published a three-part article series, “In The Fog of War: A Jewish Father’s Search”, and while the details we were presented passed adequate burden of proof by our reckoning, new details have come to light which complicate the narrative and some of the named figures mentioned and about whom disturbing allegations were made, may have been presented in a harsher light than accurate or falsely represented entirely.

We regret that prior to publishing this series we did not contact these named individuals for comment or to hear their side, and have since been contacted by one of the named individuals who has presented compelling evidence that calls into doubt the disturbing allegations against this person and others in the story, suggesting that serious charges in the article may have been falsely represented. Among other things, the named individual denies that the child who was the center of the article ever existed and has offered compelling evidence to support that assertion.

As such we have removed the articles from our site, offer our apologies to those who may have been falsely accused or presented unfairly, and wish the best to all the players in this story towards a constructive and productive resolution in this emotional saga.
